The Truth About Heart Disease

The Cure for Heart Disease: Truth Will Save a Nation Until today, the belief is that cholesterol is the number one enemy of the heart.

It was believed that cholesterol provokes and was at the root of other heart related problems.

Therefore, doctors' first advice to their heart patients has always been to stay away from all foods that increase cholesterol in the blood; that is until The Cure for Heart Disease: Truth Will Save a Nation" by Dwight Lundell MD appeared and started to change this belief forever.

Dr. Lundell says that it is inflammation and not cholesterol that affects the cardiovascular system.

Inflammation lies at the root cause of malfunctions in coronary health.

According to the book "The Cure for Heart Disease: Truth Will Save a Nation" -

inflammation is a defense mechanism that the human body activates when there is any type of infection present. During this time, just like a wise general would do under attack, the body draws on all its forces and d…

Who Needs Reach The Floor Flexibility?

Bу Doug Setter

It iѕ sad аnd bit funny, whеn I ѕее еvеn 10 year olds whо саnnоt touch thеir оwn toes. I attribute thiѕ tо thе civilized activity оf sitting.

Sitting аt school, in cars, in buses, оn planes, bеhind thе computer аnd thе television set.

Lacking flexibility iѕ nоt juѕt a sign оf оld age оr natural.

Conquer Your Stumbling Blocks To Exercise

Tips to Overcome Your Barriers to Exercise By Ellen Goldman

After working in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years, I've heard a lot of excuses when it comes to exercise. The problem is, most people know what they "should" do, but following through and taking action is a whole other story.

I've read tons of books and articles written by the experts in the field of motivation and behavioral change, seen what's worked for my own clients, and have spoken with my colleagues about how we can help people get over their barriers to exercise.

But what I really wanted to know is this: how does the average individual, who isn't a health and fitness professional, an athlete, or a fitness fanatic, get his or her workout in?

What are the most common barriers to exercise and how do these folks get past them?

To find my answer, I decided to send out an inquiry through HARO (Help a Reporter Out) and asked individuals what their greatest barrier to exercise is …

20 Year Study Noted A Dementia Promising Rate Drop

20 Year Study Shows Surprise Fall in Dementia Rates  By Sally Burr

The long term study based in Sweden monitored the aging and health of over 3,000 participants aged 75 and over during a two decade period; 523 of those participants were diagnosed with some form of dementia.

Key members of the research group remained constant since the research began in1987, including the neurologist responsible for the clinical diagnosis of dementia.

All study participants were assessed by a nurse, a physician and a psychologist.

In light of the common opinion that the risk of developing dementia will rise, the findings from the Swedish study are surprising.

The research conducted by the Aging Research Centre (ARC) shows that despite the survival rates of dementia sufferers increasing since the 1980's, the occurrences of dementia have shown to stabilize.

These findings have led researchers to conclude that the overall risk of developing dementia has declined over this period.

Does Alcohol Increase The Risk Of High Blood Pressure?

The Link Between Alcohol And Hypertension High blood pressure affects thousands of Americans each year. If you are taking steps to reduce yours, you may want to consider cutting back on your alcohol intake as well.

Alcohol use can lead to increased blood pressure and other heart conditions.

Although many people use alcohol as a stress reducer, it has quite the opposite effect on the body. Stopping an alcohol habit is not easy but if alcohol possesses a health risk to you, it may be to your benefit to quit drinking sooner than later, in some cases people who moderate their alcohol use can manage to reduce high blood pressure as well.

There are numerous ways to get help for alcohol use either through rehab, treatment or an alternative program. While rehab and treatment are the most popular options, their success rates are lackluster.

Many people who enter rehab typically need to repeat the program more than once, or relapse shortly after. Some people can fix their alcohol problems on t…
