7 Natural Ways To Boost Your Memory Power

Memory, how we wish it could be as powerful as it was our youth.

As we age, it is natural for bodily systems to begin decline. Unfortunately, memory is one functions to go. It may become difficult to remember names, pertinent information, or getting somewhere you visit often.

Brain impairing conditions sometimes cause significant memory issues. Alzheimer’s, dementia and disorders manifested by dementia are impairing conditions that cause acute memory lapses. The victim may not recognize family members or friends. We worry that we may become one of the 10 million baby boomers who develop Alzheimer’s disease.

However, memory issues do not have to be so extreme in order to cause us grief and distress. How many times have you not been able to recall the name of a movie, or a good book you read? Maybe, more often than not you cannot seem to remember where you leave your car keys when you enter your home. How many times do you find yourself thinking or saying, “What was that guy’s name.”

For A More Youthful Brain Use Meditation

As people age, their brain will lose mass and size.

These alterations may start to ensue in people as early as their mid to late 20s.
Prior research has shown people who meditate lose less brain mass over time than those who do not. In particular, research concluded people who meditated had less of a decrease in their white brain matter.

White brain matter acts as a connector and insulator for gray brain matter. It transfers nerve impulses concerning the functional parts of the brain. Gray brain matter accommodates the various neurological centers of the brain. These neurological centers target speech, motor skills, memory, etc.

Meditation is something practiced by more than 15 million Americans and many more people around the world. Meditation started in eastern culture, but embraced by western societies.
Meditation has a wide diversity of benefits, comprising:
Improves sleepInner peace and tranquilityReduces chronic painReduces stress and anxietyBoosts attentionHelps with weight lo…

Weight Loss Secrets: Why The Thyroid Is Important?

Often times, patients talk to their doctors about possibly having thyroid issues. They experience weight gain, do a little research online, and proclaim that they have self-diagnosed a thyroid disease or problem.

Sometimes they are wrong.

However, in one way, they are always correct. Your thyroid does play an important metabolic process that can lead to weight loss or gain.

Here is what happens. Your thyroid is the largest gland in your endocrine system. What your endocrine group of glands does is regulate things like your physical growth, mental and physical development, reproductive process and metabolism. This includes your pancreas, pituitary, ovaries, testes and thyroid glands among others.

While your thyroid is the largest of all the endocrine glands, it is still relatively small. Shaped like a butterfly the thyroid is located in the middle of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. Have you ever had a doctor handle your throat and ask you to swallow? When he does that, he…

Weight Loss Is Simple Just Stop Eating

By Wil Scott

They tell me to just stop eating.

Okay, I admit it; I have been fighting with my weight all my life. I have been thin, average, and overweight. I know the struggle all too well. My mother never had a weight problem and was my biggest critic. My mother would give me that wonderful motherly advice of, "Just stop eating!" Well, that was a lot easier said than done.

In addition, truthfully, overweight folks do not need to stop eating (this would put our bodies into starvation mode, thus storing more fat). I mean, we do not want to starve, right? I am also sure you have heard some folks making fun of the very obese. This is very hurtful and can lead an overweight person right back to overeating, seeking comfort. I know... I have been there.

Now, there are those who are overweight due to medical issues and medications that may make them gain weight. This is not the person's fault.

So what are us regular folks who are overweight supposed to do? We stick to our gun…

Heart Attack or Cardiac Arrest? Know The Difference

Did you know that having a heart attack and going into sudden cardiac arrest are two different conditions?

One causes the heart to stop beating whereas the other happens when there is a lack of blood flow to the heart.

So what exactly is the difference between the two?

A heart attack is a circulation problem.
It occurs when blood flow to the heart has blockage. If the blockage remains intact, then part of the heart begins to die. The longer someone goes without treatment, the greater his or her risk of long-term damage can be. Symptoms of blood flow blockage to the heart muscle usually start slow. The symptoms can last anywhere from a few hours to even a few weeks before the heart attack happens.

Heart attack symptoms can include:

Chest discomfort – involves discomfort or pain in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back Discomfort of the upper body – includes pain or discomfort in one or both arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach Other …

Inflammation The Painful Weight Loss Killer

The Link between Inflammation and Weight Loss Many people today are struggling with weight loss due to inflammation, and they do not even realize it.

Over the last 25 or so years our diets have changed, just ask your parents and grandparents about the foods they used to eat.

The problem is that many of the foods we now consume are just not good for us at all. Manufacturers use ingredients that make foods last during the production process. Their concern to their customer’s health is not as important as turning a profit on their products.

Is Inflammation Causing You Weight Gain Problems?
It seems as though more and more people, at a younger age, are suffering from joint aches and pains. You may notice this yourself, while yes you are getting older. Should you in truth be stiff and so sore at 50? Other noticeable changes include weight gain, mood swings, skin issues. As well as problems with your memory and focus.

One culprit is that your diet may be too rich in Omega 6 fats and too …

During Exercise What Actually Happens In The Brain?

Exercise causes our heart pressure to rise, which sends a signal to the brain that the body is under stress.

In response, a protein releases into our body called “brain-derived neurotrophic factor” (BDNF). This protein is a “reset switch” that repairs memory neurons. It makes thoughts seem clear after exercising and putting the body at ease.
At the same time, endorphins release into the brain. Endorphins to limit the degree of pain and discomfort associated with exercise. They even create a sense of euphoria.

Like BDNF, endorphins release in response to the feeling of “stress” brought on by exercise. “Runner’s high” is the phrase coined to describe the surge of endorphins during exercise.

They act as a natural anti-depressant.

The same antidepressant effect from a “runner’s high” which, results in a reduction in stress level hormones.

A study conducted in Stockholm showed that running stimulates cell growth in the hippocampus. The hippocampus is the part of the brain responsible f…
