Charli XCX is in a prolific mood. Last week, she expanded her foray into filmmaking via The Moment<\/em>, a flashy and forthcoming A24 project based on her Brat<\/em> album rollout. Over the weekend, she made a cameo on Saturday Night Live<\/em>. And yesterday, her Vanity Fair<\/em> cover went live; in the accompanying story, she underscored her commitment to being booked and busy, saying, \u201cLife\u2019s so short. There\u2019s so much I want to do. I want to just constantly be doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

It makes sense then that she might welcome a bit of a (sartorial) breather. Yesterday, Charli wore a rare casual ensemble as she stepped out of Lattanzi, an Italian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan (reportedly, Lorne Michaels\u2019s favorite), where she dined with the SNL<\/em> cast and this week\u2019s forthcoming host, Sabrina Carpenter. She wore an easy, stolen-from-George outfit apropos of a Tuesday night presumably filled with bucatini and spritzes: a collared leather jacket over a navy blue vintage tee advertising the Washington, DC, BDSM bar, the Eagle, with square-toed boots and a wide-legged, heavily whiskered pair of men\u2019s jeans from Acne Studios. (For what it\u2019s worth, the singer has been a face of the brand since last year.)<\/p>\n

Though the debate still rages over whether or not a proverbial girlfriend should be allowed to steal her proverbial boyfriend\u2019s clothes with impunity, the way that these low-slung, faded men\u2019s denim fit on Charli alone should settle it. (In that same spirit, I\u2019m of the opinion that men should be stealing their girlfriends\u2019 clothes to the same degree, but that\u2019s a take for a different story.)<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, Charli donned another borrowed-from-the-boys look for her SNL<\/em> cameo, when she appeared during musical guest Role Model\u2019s performance of his hit single, \u201cSally, When the Wine Runs Out.\u201d She danced on stage as the titular Sally, wearing an ultra-mini leather skirt and a teeny, navy blue shirt\u2014merchandise from an iconic 1970s nightclub, Max\u2019s Kansas City. Role Model (whose latest album is titled Kansas Anymore<\/em>) had worn the tee earlier in the week, in a teaser video alongside host Amy Poehler and cast member Bowen Yang to promote the episode.<\/p>\n

Though Charli\u2019s SNL<\/em> ensemble felt like a cheeky, walk-of-shame look that played directly into the song\u2019s central theme\u2014a one-night stand with the fleeting, unattainable Sally\u2014some fans speculated it was a response to an alleged slight made by Taylor Swift (whose fianc\u00e9, Travis Kelce, plays for the Kansas City Chiefs) her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Gossip aside, let Charli\u2019s borrowed-from-the-boys looks be the reason you let your situationship keep your hoodie and designer denim. She probably looks better in them, anyways.<\/p>\n
