When it comes to discovering the next big name in shoemaking, I always keep my eyes open for fresh talent, and recently, one name has caught my attention \u2014 Twinkima.G. Based in China, this rising shoemaker is producing shoes that easily rival the quality of well-known European brands. Today, we look at Twinkima.G\u2019s handwelted shoes in my latest unboxing video.<\/p>\n

Twinkima.G\u2019s work blends traditional hand welted construction with distinctive designs that make each pair stand out. For those unfamiliar, \u201chand welted\u201d means the welt \u2014 the strip of leather connecting the upper to the sole \u2014 is stitched entirely by hand. This method, often written as handwelted<\/em>, is time-intensive and requires a high level of skill, but results in shoes that are both durable and long-lasting.<\/p>\n

Discovering Twinkimg.G shoes<\/h2>\n

I first came across Twinkima.G at our London Super Trunk Show. In my ongoing search for great craftsmanship, while also exploring the growing world of Chinese shoemaking, they were a perfect find. Over the last decade, China has gone from producing primarily mass-market footwear to becoming home to some of the finest artisan shoemakers in the industry. Twinkima.G is one of those brands leading this transformation, blending traditional techniques with a contemporary design sensibility.<\/p>\n

The Shoes I Reviewed<\/h2>\n

In my latest video review, I highlighted Twinkima.G\u2019s lazyman Brogues \u2014 a hybrid style that combines the look of a brogue with the convenience of an elasticated slip-on. These are not your average \u201clazy man\u201d shoes; the design is elegant, the brogue detailing is sharp, and the proportions are spot-on.<\/p>\n

The leather quality is exceptional for the price point \u2014 supple, with a deep, rich finish that promises to age beautifully. The hand welted construction ensures the shoes are built to last, and the craftsmanship is evident in every stitch and seam.<\/p>\n

The one pattern I notice about Chinese shoemakers, is that many of them focus on chisel lasts, and the classic round last is quite uncommon. Even the almond last is not as prevalent. Let\u2019s hope this changes. <\/p>\n

The market for high-quality, hand welted shoes from China is growing fast, and Twinkima.G handwelted shoes are proving that excellent craftsmanship doesn\u2019t have to come with a sky-high price tag. If they continue producing at this level, I have no doubt they\u2019ll become a significant name in the industry in the next few years.<\/p>\n
