The new Ichigo Ichie lazyman shoe is simply like no other. You can tell that creativity was really flowing when he put pen to paper and created this new model, which they call ‘Swan.’ I have the feeling it is going to be one of those shoes that someone either loves or hates. I don’t feel like this will have a middle ground admirer. It evokes a reaction, and that will either be positive or negative. The question is, which way will you sway?
I have truly never seen a model like this, and that is what drew me to it. I won’t like to you and say that it is something that I would personally wear, but as a shoe designer myself, I do truly admire it, and if I saw someone wearing it in the street, it would certainly make me give a ‘double-take.’
Shoe design is not simply the last and the pattern. It is the colors that one chooses to harmonize. The contrast here between a burnished tan and the mid-brown hatch grain harmonizes very well. It creates a fluidity that captures the essence of the model. If, for say, it were black and red, two colors I love together, I do not think that it would offer the same harmonizing feeling.
I do not know the backstory behind this shoe, as I saw it on his bespoke Instagram page, so I can imagine that it was either a new bespoke sample or something he made for himself. Either way, I would assume it is now available as a special order model. You won’t find it on the website yet, but you can certainly reference this post if you would like to learn more about this new Ichigo Ichie lazyman shoe that you won’t find elsewhere!
